Got skim milk?

Evidently not, if you go to the new Tim Hortons in downtown Victoria, and never will by the sounds of it.  Downtown Victoria has been “waiting” for a Tim Hortons for years, but a new outlet just opened on Blanshard street near the centre of town. I am not a fan of Timmy Ho-Ho’s, I prefer the local coffee shops and Starbucks to be honest, but lately I’ve been heading to Timmy’s with a group of co-workers as part of our morning caffeine ritual.

On our first trip I was actually surprised to learn that Timmy’s does not offer skim milk as an option for your tea or coffee. Since then I have asked for skim milk several times in an attempt to demonstrate a “need”. My co-workers have asked too, and time after time we’ve been given an “oh you are so annoying” eye-roll and the standard line “we don’t serve that”.

Complain you say? Yes, we did! We even wrote to Timmy’s HQ and were told if we simply asked for skim milk the store manager would oblige. Not quite! I asked a manager last week, who reminded me of a female ultimate fighting champion, and was told “not only do we not offer skim milk but we are never going to get it…no one likes it or asks for it…thank-you!” No… thank you!

I know, I know…what did I expect from a place that serves candy-cane hot chocolate with candy-cane donuts?

Well sky, I live on a little Island in the south Pacific called ‘Eua and we don’t even get milk, it goes off to quick so we use condensed milk. Anyway if you want to get skim milk all you have to do is add water to normal milk. Yep that’s all skim milk is watered down real milk. So next time you go for coffee, just ask them to put water in your milk before they make coffee for you. I hope that helps.
ps I don’t know what starbucks is but I’m guessing it’s a coffee shop, am I right?
